The Mayan calendar has caused concern for modern civilization. We've seen it on the news and we've heard about it on the radio. How can we be certain that the Mayan calendar is predicting the end of the world? The truth is that we can't. The Mayan calendar does end on December 21, 2012 and that is certain, everything else regarding their calendar is absolutely uncertain. There are plenty of individuals who stand to profit from mass hysateria. There are also those who profit from producing interesting cable tv shows. That's why facts should speak for themselves and hype of centuries gone by should be taken with a grain of salt. There is no evidence that the Mayan people were trying to predict the end of the world for us when they ended their calendar.
